Break into the cemetery. A necrophiliac - nothing could scare me. Dead flesh: the sick desire. A rotting corpse to set my soul on fire.
Couldn't have picked a better night. A pale moon casts its shining light.
Shovel in hand, digging up earth. To fulfill an urge so perverse.
Six feet down: there lay nothing.
Bolts of lightning strike and thunder boom. A silhouette moves in the light of the moon. An eerie whisper, "who is this who violates my tomb?"
All dressed in black, she follows a pathway through the rising mist. She reveals herself as the ghost of the grave: a great Salem witch. Though burned at the stake, in death, she lives through a wicked mystic force. For my grave defiled, I shall place this curse with no remorse.

I am having multiple eargasms & goosebumps for the entire duration of the album! Plus they have a new album coming out in a couple of months that I cannot wait for! A criminally underrated band... On ne pourra certainement pas reprocher à Subnuba de vouloir aller trop vite : si le groupe annonçait la sortie prochaine d'un album avec le single Ascending Light, Distant Pixel ne sortira que trois ans plus tard. Et à l'écoute de cette pépite, je dirai qu'on ne pourra pas reprocher grand-chose à Subnuba tout court. Le trio a travaillé d'arrache-pied et ça s'entend : le death metal technique est exceptionnel, aussi bourrin que fantastique avec ses arpèges électroniques de science-fiction !

An eclectic but incredibly well-integrated blend of traditional death metal, melodeath, black metal, progressive, and even a bit of folk (with the added bonus of audible and tasty bass guitar). The album has a consistent, pulverizing momentum punctuated by the rare acoustic passage or catchy chorus/refrain. Overall an unbelievably mature first offering from an up-and-coming band to watch.
